PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT

My name is Tran Thi Ngoc Lan, also known as Ceri Lan. My mother chose the name “Ngoc Lan,” inspired by the fragrance of the white Champaca flower that lined Hanoi's roads in the 1980s. In adulthood, I added “Ceri,” symbolizing Unconditional Love, which represents my deepest aspiration to embrace all of life's experiences with open, compassionate acceptance.

Having lived abroad since the age of nine, I was fortunate to receive an international education and travel to many countries. However, these early life experiences also led to struggles with self-identity, safety, and belonging, which eventually manifested as anxiety and depression. Over the years, I sought to find myself through various means, and along the way, I discovered a deep passion for human existentialism—exploring what it means to be human, including our suffering and potential.

Eventually, I found my calling in psychology and graduated with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with Distinction. Since then, I have worked as a therapist in university settings, psychiatry wards, corporations, and private counseling practices. Today, I enjoy working with adults who may silently struggle to understand themselves. Their challenges often take the form of stress, anxiety, or an ongoing sense of emptiness. However, I now recognize that these struggles are part of a shared human experience, especially when we are not aligned with our innermost authentic selves. That authentic voice is already within us, and it is our choice to access it. I feel a deep commitment to support those who are searching for their true, authentic being.

MY PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH

What is most important to us potentially has the power to bring us the most pain.

  • A socially anxious person is likely a person yearning to connect with others.

  • A person with depression is likely a person yearning to feel fully.

  • A numb person is likely a deeply loving person.

  • A partner who has turned silent is likely a person who wishes to be heard.

Trap in your unhealthy conflicts also contains a healthy yearning. Your pain is a powerful ally for deep meaning, purpose and authentic joy that you can share with yourself, your partner, or other loved ones. The way you manage your struggle determines your course of life. â€‹

Your Pain Has a Purpose!

If you listen deeply to its inner messages, you will access your deepest meaning and joy.

There is a Body Wisdom & Inner Flexibility readily within you to access this knowing.

Therapy is a safe space for an open, sincere, embracing & courageous conversation. In this space, I support you to deepen your presence of calmness and inner compassion to meet with yourself where you gain a clearer self-awareness and understanding of your struggles and meanings.
